A housing company's task for the future is to give aging people the opportunity to stay long and healthy in their own homes. The integration of health-oriented services in the domestic environment offers a chance here. Ideally, such assisted living can also be introduced in private homes and condominiums. What is more, the provision of these services should not be limited to elderly people. In principle, all persons with an impairment can benefit from assistance in their daily lives (AAL).
The installation of AAL components requires not only device-related consultation and correct technical implementation but also detailed consultation taking account of a person's limitations. This VDE application guide compiles the requirements for installers of technical systems to help people live an independent life in their own homes and gives guidance on the specific aspects to be taken into account for the selection and installation of devices.
