This annex applies for additional devices attached to or integrated in Type B residual current operated circuit-breakers (RCDs) according to clause 1. Such additional devices enlarge the defined functions of the RCD. This standard does not apply for additional devices producing a conventional tripping current via the protective conductor (PE) in order to cause the RCD to operate. The objective of the annex is to maintain the protective function of the RCD even though the function of the integrated or external additional device is not described in greater detail.
