This part of IEC 60512 shall be applied in accordance with the requirements of the type specification for testing connectors and crimp connections with insulation retention, which are within the scope of Technical Committee No. 48. This test may also be applied to similar components if indicated in the type specification. The purpose of this part of IEC 60512 is to establish a standardized test method for evaluating the effectiveness of an insulation retention device to retain the insulation of a cable/wire under specified conditions.
