This standard applies to plugs and coupling boxes only for alternating current (AC), with or without a protective earth contact, with a rated voltage exceeding 50 V but not exceeding 440 V, and with a rated current not exceeding 32 A, intended for household or similar use, either indoors or outdoors.
A normal household load caused by electrical appliance connected with a plug in accordance with DIN 49441 or DIN 49406 must not exceed an energy quantity of 7360 Wh over a period of 3 hours.
