Part 3-3: Planning and performance assessment of electrical energy storage systems – Additional requirements for energy intensive and backup power applications
This part of IEC 62933 defines the requirements, considerations, and use cases for the application of EES systems for energy intensive applications, islanded operation, and backup power supply. The energy intensive applications need to provide the required power over a long period of time. The islanded operation and backup power supply of the EES system provide the required power to the internal electric power grids without relying on an external power source. This document will include the following applications of EES systems. Peak shaving and load levelling Islanded grid application Backup power supply and emergency support.
