This Part 6 of IEC 62845 series covers Lithium-Ion batteries in and battery installations used for electric vehicles and provides requirements on safety aspects associated with the installation, use, inspection, maintenance and disposal. The main applications are battery powered locomotives, cleaning machines and electrically propulsed lifting machines, for example. It applies to stationary secondary batteries and battery installations with a maximum voltage of DC 1500 V (nominal). Lithium ion cells/batteries used in traction industrial application are intended to fulfill safety requirements in accordance with IEC 62619.
