This VDE application guide describes the technical requirements for the contactless energy transmission to electric road vehicles (vehicle class M1; except commercial vehicles, single-track vehicles, etc.) based on induction for the low power range. Minimum requirements are defined from a safety point of view. Efficiency as a policy guideline is also taken into account.

The application guide is intended to picture a generic effect model making the different parameters for the layout of an electric vehicle inductive charging system transparent. The optimization of these parameters is designed to illustrate technical progress at any time. The application guide is not intended to fix the state of the art, but it is just a snapshot.

The application guide is oriented to the current state of standards and guidelines, e.g. with respect to safety, EMC, grid feedback, etc.
