This VDE application guide enables the operators of power grids to draw up and review their own crisis management concept so that they retain their ability to act in the event of a crisis and return to normal operation as quickly as possible. Based on a three-phase model of crisis management, special focus is placed on prevention through planning and training. This requires the identification of threat scenarios, the establishment of crisis teams and rooms, and the provision of redundant means of communication. Every second counts: In order to react confidently and safely to crises in the power grid, preparation is required. With regard to cross-connected companies, there is a close interlocking with the existing regulations in the gas and water sectors.
