This IEC Technical Specification is based on the two DIN VDE pre standards DIN VDE V 0109-1 (VDE V 0109-1) and DIN VDE V 0109-2 (VDE V 0109-2). It defines the maintenance requirements of electrical installations and their equipment in electrical power networks and different general methods. It applies to operators of electrical power networks, especially of public power supplies. Currently not included are: railway networks; installations of end consumer networks, and installations for electrical power feedings.
Measures for risk management, e.g. in emergency situations, are not part of this document.
