Abstract:
The objective of this study is to develop an energy management system for a renewable energy based railway hydrogen production plant. The network is connected to the electricity grid on the one hand, and to a solar and wind farm on the other hand. The system is equipped with a storage system, enabling hydrogen to be generated locally, stored and recharged in trains on a railroad line. In order to plan hydrogen production while optimizing network power flow, an IMS is developed. This IMS uses a rule-based algorithm, taking into account daily hydrogen requirements, as well as available solar and wind energy resources. In this vein, a network model is presented, along with the mathematical equations for each component, and a description of the energy management algorithm in various scenarios. Subsequently, to ensure the carbon neutrality of the hydrogen produced, the IMS is tested using MATLAB environment.
