Abstract:
This study introduces a novel Multi-Wavelength Photoplethysmography (MW-PPG) system that utilizes a digital CMOS image sensor combined with color filters. The system architecture features a light source emitting a broad spectrum of light, which is transmitted through body parts and captured by the CMOS sensor covered with a color filter matrix. The digital CMOS image sensor equipped with a 256×256 pixel array, column-parallel σ-δ ADC, and a global shutter for high precision and frame rate. The proposed MW-PPG system has demonstrated promising stability and linearity, making it suitable for biomedical applications. Future work will focus on enhancing the color filter architecture and system performance to achieve a more robust design. The study's findings indicate that the use of color filters in place of multiple LEDs can provide accurate and reliable sensing data for non-invasive monitoring of physiological parameters.
