Abstract:
The junctional areas of the human body contain numerous nerve bundles and large arterial and venous blood vessels. When bleeding occurs in these regions, controlling it typically requires compression of the wound and proximal blood vessels. However, improper compression duration and force can easily result in thrombosis and nerve damage. Pressure sensors offer a more objective and precise evaluation of the effectiveness of compression devices. In this study, we designed a junctional site compression hemostasis device integrated with MEMS pressure sensors. Experimental results demonstrated that the developed compression structure meets the requirements for large vessel occlusion in various locations on the adult body. The pressure sensor accurately measures the compression force at the application point. Arterial compression experiments confirmed the sensor's capability to detect small pressure changes, and the arterial occlusion pressure data obtained may inform the improvement of clinically relevant compression devices. This integrated system aids medical personnel in making critical decisions and reducing complications.
