Abstract:
The demand for 1500V string solar inverters has increased rapidly in recent years. The dcdc boost converter is critical in the 1500V system since it enables the function of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). Thanks to a new 2kV SiC MOSFET technology, this paper offers a single-end two-level boost topology. As MPPT currents nowadays increase up to 80 A per string, an inverse coupled dcdc boost inductor with two windings is designed, prototyped, and validated. Compared with a traditional solution of two individual non-coupled inductors, it reduces total inductor weight and cost while keeping a similar ripple current.
