Abstract:
This paper introduces a new method for choosing and optimizing the best topology for a DC-DC converter in a specific application. To demonstrate the benefits of this approach, it has been implemented in the design of a non-isolated, low-voltage(0.6 to 1.5V ), high-current (≥ 40A) output converter. Finding the best design that meets specific application requirements while minimising development time can be challenging. A three-step approach is proposed using an artificial intelligence-based algorithm to address this challenge. This method selects the optimal topology for the application and optimizes the magnetic component(s) choice and output capacitor values. Firstly, the topology has been selected and optimized using the proposed method. Then, the converter was experimentally implemented to evaluate its performance.
