Abstract:
For an ever-increasing demand of highly efficient highly power-dense system soft-switching converters are gaining more and more attraction. Especially for wide-bandgap power devices, electrical characterization is not sufficiently accurate, while calorimetric measurement methods suffer from high measurement times. To improve the hardware-in-the-loop development, this paper proposes a new measurement method utilizing an optical sensor and Peltier elements to reduce measurement and cooldown times below 5 s each hence enabling time-efficient parameterized characterization of soft-switching losses without the necessity for dedicated calorimetric measurement setups.
