Abstract:
The powertrain of full battery electric vehicle, mild-hybrid and plugin hybrid need the latest power technology and innovative package solution able to achieve the best-in-class performance. In this context the new generation of STMicroelectronics Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs properly meet this market requirements, leading to low energy consumption solutions for a sustainable future founded on decarbonization policies. The static features in combination with its temperature coefficient variation of this SiC MOSFETs generation can ensure high efficiency, reduced cooling effort and maximum power density as consequence. Taking advantages of this new SiC generation plus those of STPAK(r), that’s the state-of-the-art discrete package with 2x dice in parallel, this paper illustrates how it is possible, from a technical point of view, moving from 4xSTPAK(r) to 3xSTPAK(r) solution in a traction inverter environment.
