Abstract:
Typically, output regulation of inductive power transfer systems is implemented through an additional DC/DC power conversion stage between the high frequency rectifier and the load. However, output regulation can also be achieved directly from the transmitter side, which could reduce cost and complexity and increase system efficiency. High frequency Class E-type inverters are traditionally operated in openloop, hence both output and efficiency are strongly load dependent. Here, these limitations are overcome by introducing various control schemes, which achieve constant output while maintaining soft-switching. In our experiments, the output is regulated, and soft-switching is maintained across the entire load range, even after introducing significant misalignment.
