Abstract:
This paper presents a high-power density bidirectional interleaved 6.6kW Power Factor Correction [PFC) tobe used for AG/DG stage of a two-stage isolated bidirectional on-board charger (OBC). Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology is employed to achieve higher switching frequency leading to more compact passive components solutions. The detailed design process for two-phase interleaved inductors value, EMI filter, controller design, and the system level loss breakdown are provided. The 6.6kW PFC prototype has been implemented and tested in both inverter mode and rectifier mode. lmplemented PFC 3chieves 13 kW/L power density and 98.5% measured peak efficiency using phase shedding at 2.2kW rectifier mode.
