Abstract:
This work developed a conductor-based model to determine the distribution of the electrical potential along the conductors of a single-tooth winding of a permanent magnet synchronous machine. More importantly, this work considers the proximity effect between various conductors belonging to the single-tooth winding, besides the skin effect in each conductor. The model is parameterized by using impedance measurement results. Then, the model accuracy is validated in the frequency domain using the impedance measurement results and in the time domain applying the voltage signal measurements. Thereby, an averaged relative error of 4.47 % is observed between the simulated and measured voltage peaks along the single-tooth winding on the test bench.
