Abstract:
The upwelling and eddy currents generated by artificial reefs can enhance minerals and nutrients to attract fish for resting, feeding and breeding. The stability of artificial reefs is an important guarantee for its flow field effect. In this paper, numerical simulations are conducted to study the fluid-structure interaction between artificial reefs and the flow as well as the sediment and mud on the seabed. The motion, overturning and sinking process of artificial reefs are obtained. The numerical results show that the muddy seabed increases the instability of artificial reefs. With the artificial reefs overturning and sinking, the volume of upwelling and wake vortex decreases, resulting a weak upward water transport capacity and wake effect. The weak water transport and wake will affect its function and efficiency directly.
