Abstract:
The stomach is an important digestive organ in the body and gastric motility determines the proper functioning of the human stomach in terms of storage, secretion, digestion, transport and emptying. As the source of water metabolism in the human body, gastric emptying is closely related to the volume of human intracellular fluid (ICF) and extracellular fluids (ECF), which affects the volume and time of water entering human ICF and ECF. This paper proposes a method for assessing human water metabolism through the measurement of human ICF and ECF volume based on bioelectrical impedance technology. The impedance of the human torso was measured at different frequencies, the volume of the ICF and ECF in the human torso was calculated by the modified Moissl equation, and the qualitative relationship between the volume of ICF and ECF and human water metabolism was established. The results showed that the volume of ICF and ECF calculated based on human trunk impedance increased gradually with gastric emptying, and the increase of trunk fluid was between 50% and 70% of pure water intake, which was within the normal range, and the remaining pure water intake was distributed to the extremities, indicating that the method proposed in this paper can be used to assess human water metabolism.
