Abstract:
This article proposes a hybrid isolated DC-DC (HIDC) converter with flexible control strategy. The HIDC converter is constructed by thyristors, modular multilevel arms at the MVDC side, and diodes at the LVDC side through transformer. The isolated structure of the converter can achieve high step-down ratio. Furthermore, by adjusting the duty cycle of submodule (SM) according to the input voltage, HIDC can ensure stable operation within a wide voltage range. Besides, the thyristor currents are controlled into three-phase staggered trapezoidal waves, so that the dc current is smooth without filter. The effectiveness is confirmed by simulation on a 500kW HIDC that converts 8~16kV to 750V.
