Innovative and Integrated Production Technology Allows Effective Packaging

Abstract:
Latest developments in manufacturing technologies of metallic parts deliver a large number of new possibilities for packaging of power electronics. The article not only deals with technological benefits but also with commercial aspects and topic of high quality mass production. First technological focus of this report are wiring solutions, whereby new cross sectional geometries and novel material classes allow the design of new components. These are of advantage when considering system design. When it comes to bigger cross sections, high power busbars and corresponding manufacturing technologies are of interest. Moreover, insulation materials and decoating processes were analyzed. This leads to the last main focus, which describes achievements in production of metal-plastic composites / composite parts and housings.
