Abstract:
The necessary shift of aeronautics towards a cleaner industrial model drives the need for more efficient power conversion systems embarked on aircrafts. In this frame, Thales has specifically designed a full silicon carbide (SiC) phase-leg power module for DC/AC power conversion applications up to 260 kW in unpressurized environment. The power module is proposed in a 1200 V / 547 A calibre version and is designed to operate at its full electrical potential up to 10 700 m of altitude, fulfilling the requirements of the DO-160 aeronautical standard. It can support the electrification of different airborne applications such as motor drives, static converters, and flight actuators.
