Abstract:
In this paper, the scratch test is discussed as a method for characterizing sinter materials and for evaluating drying and pressureless sintering processes. For different silver-based sinter materials applied by stencil and screen printing on commercial DBC substrates, the influence of thermal exposure on the resulting scratch force is analyzed. The results indicate that the scratch test is a suitable method to obtain quantitative data on silver-based sinter materials during the initial and intermediate stage of the sintering process, thus providing an easy-to-use test method for process and material characterization.
