Abstract:
All new aircraft apply for type certification to EASA after 2014 must deploy non-Halon fire extinguishing system. In this paper, a test study of the discharge performance of the HFC-125 fire extinguishing system is carried out to compare it with the Halon 1301 fire extinguishing system. The analysis of the test data shows that the Halon1301 fire extinguishing system has a significantly higher flow rate than the HFC-125 fire extinguishing system for the same system design. And the fill pressure of the system affects Halon1301 system more than HFC-125 system. Therefore, the HFC-125 fire extinguishing system must be modified based on the original Halon1301 pipeline system. Furthermore, the concentration distribution of the extinguishing agent shows that both agents have very good dispersion properties. Moreover, the different charging pressures have a small effect on the diffusion of the extinguishing agent.
