Abstract:
The modifications of the power system due to fast-growing capacities of renewable energy sources combined with slow progress on network expansion measures more and more often lead to non-desirable grid congestions. Changing active and reactive power as a method of counteracting off-limit conditions influences grid losses significantly. Therefore, a minimization of the grid losses in compliance with the technical constraints needs to be approached. Other flexibilities, such as switching measures to change the network configurations also need to be taken into account. Therefore a quadratic optimization problem that contains integer variables to include these characteristics is presented as a reasonable approach. This paper compares mixed-integer quadratically constrained quadratic programs based on two different approaches.
