Abstract:
With the increasing shift away from conventional power plants and their synchronous generators, grid forming inverters (GFI) are recently mentioned as a solution to compensate for the loss of system stabilising effects of synchronous machines. In this paper, the characteristic dynamic properties inertia and damping are determined by laboratory tests which is based on studies on partial grid operability after a grid separation. In both tests, the determination of the properties could be represented with an accuracy of 5 % to 10 %.
