Optimized power module set for ESS and Solar under consideration of power factor -1 +1

Abstract:
This paper proposes an innovatively designed split NPC 3L modules in combination with 7th generation IGBT technology. Compared with the already existing solutions built by three half-bridge modules in the market, this brings significant benefits which are lower stray inductance, lower losses, more compact and simpler design. The switching performance of each IGBT and diode were measured on the power stack equipped with the split modules by double pulse test and short circuit test. Moreover, an output of 1MW at 3kHz without paralleling of modules could be possible which was verified by inverter thermal test and simulation study.
