Abstract:
Unidirectional ac-dc power converters are gaining importance with the increasing infrastructure demand in the E-mobility sector, pertaining not only to the charging of electric vehicles but also industrial floor conveyors. This paper deals with the control of a three level three phase 20 kW power factor correction (PFC) converter. The operation and control of the PFC in continuous conduction mode (CCM), discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and the transition between the two modes are investigated. The total harmonic distortion (THD) in the line current is analysed and improvement in the THD through the application of appropriate duty cycle is demonstrated.
