Abstract:
The percentage of small, decentralised power plants that do not provide system services, like submitting balancing power to stabilise the grid, is constantly increasing. It is necessary to develop new control methods, so that the grid can be operated stable in the future. For a grid, that consists mainly of renewable energy power plants, there have to be solutions in the control strategies, so that the plants react according to the current grid status. For practical research of these new control methods for wind energy plants a test bench has been built up at the IALB, which consists of a converter fed drive motor (wind rotor emulation), a permanent-magnet synchronous generator with related power electronics and a grid emulation. The calculation of models and the data transfer between the converter units is managed by a real time capable PC, that is connected via the EtherCAT field bus.
