Abstract:
Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) has been utilized ever since in different applications, e.g. variable-speed wind turbines, due to its simplicity and good performance. However, on account of production and application of only one switching vector during each sampling interval, large ripples occur in the state variables of the system, in FCS-MPC strategy. Attempts have been made on tackling this problem, among which Multiple Vector Direct Model Predictive Control (MVDMPC) has shown great results. This paper proposes a new different MVDMPC strategy with a new control logic and structure, which leads to significant improvements in ripple reduction, exact reference tracking and output flatness in addition to faster dynamics and response speed of the system. Moreover, the proposed MVDMPC is simulated with MATLAB/Simulink and compared with FCS-MPC, given an identical system to both. System’s healthy operation and accuracy of the control logic are also examined.
