Abstract:
Brick DC-DC converters are commonly used in telecommunication and automotive industries. This paper focuses on the design of a digitally controlled high power 1/16 brick that converts 48 V to 12 V with up to 25 A output current. GaN FETs are used to achieve the maximum output power of 300 W and power density of 730 W/in3, while staying below 100 °C with 800 LFM airflow. The measured full load efficiency exceeds 95%.
