Abstract:
In this paper an experimental evaluation of a high power converter targeted for the electrification of modern agricultural machines is presented. The converter is based on the Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) topology, due to its controllable energy storage, high reliability, constructional modularity and transformer less step-down capabilities. System modelling and control architecture are described along with design insights. The simulation results of overall system are validated with a 300kW demonstrator. Furthermore, its performance and applicability in similar Industrial applications are discussed.
