Abstract:
Interoperability between different platforms is still one of the most important gaps for value inside the Internet of Things (IoT). Current interoperability solutions are still largely driven by static & inflexible interoperability mechanisms originating from the webservice-era which do not fit the characteristics of IoT ecosystems. This is because these static, designtime approaches suffer from scalability issues since they are not suitable for large systems such as the IoT due to its real-time constraints. A dynamic approach is needed, which requires IoT systems to possess properties of intelligence in autonomous systems such as self-awareness.We propose a self-aware architecture for IoT systems, approaching the interoperability problem from a runtime perspective.
