Abstract:
In this paper, a thermal coupling network for a directly cooled ShowerPower 3D(r) module is introduced. The data required for the network is created by using CFD-methods with a multi physical approach. The CFD results are used to create a nonlinear analytical fit function which can estimate the temperature of every component much more precisely than the linear models. This holistic approach shows that the copper losses of the DBC metallization must not be neglected in thermal modelling. Furthermore, the model is capable of estimating the device temperatures during operation using the NTC temperature as a reference.
