Abstract:
Pocket-sized conductivity meter with multi-sensing capabilities integrating Bluetooth connectivity for real-time data control and acquisition focused on analysing volatile organic compounds in heart failure patient's breath. A multi-sensing meter for simultaneous conductometric measurements using micro-interdigitated gold electrodes (Au-muIDEs) has been designed and fabricated with embedded Bluetooth technology providing real-time data control and acquisition when pairing to a smartphone application. The instrumentation is fit to analyze liquid samples out-of-lab, and has also been tested with gaseous samples as human breath analyser measuring various volatile organic compounds concurrently that can be related with clinical diseases. In particular, the measurement of acetone in breath is of interest, because high acetone levels have been correlated with heart failure (HF) in patients.
