Abstract:
Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) actuates optical elements in cameras so that blurring effects from involuntary hand motion or shaking of the camera are compensated. OIS is becoming increasingly popular e.g. in high-end smartphones, where building volume is very much restricted. This paper presents a miniature size OIS actuator with two rotational degrees of freedom which uses antagonistically arranged Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires. In a model-based design approach, simulation results are compared to first experimental data from an actuator prototype measuring 8 x 8 x 5 mm3.
