Abstract:
Energy consumption and safety are essential considerations in our daily activities. Power electronics subsystems in mass market and consumer accessible products such as home appliances have to be designed with special attention to these issues. In recent years, popularity of induction cooktops has led to development activities that address the safety and efficiency of these appliances. In this paper, an overview of the trends in residential and industrial induction cooking will be presented. Furthermore, topologies and power devices for high efficiency will be discussed. Test results will be presented and influence of IGBT parameters will be also analyzed.
