Abstract:
An adequate regulation of the battery voltage is fundamental to extend the battery lifetime and prevent it from overvoltage. However, due to the battery impedance variability, the voltage response becomes dependent on the operating point and battery characteristics. This paper proposes to emulate a large capacitor in parallel with the battery, making it possible to achieve a battery voltage control which is almost independent of the parameters. The proposed method is verified by simulation, showing how the voltage response is similar for batteries with completely different impedances.
