Abstract:
This work combines different approaches for sensorless control of wound field synchronous machines (electrically excited synchronous machines). The resulting control scheme enables accurate sensorless operation in the whole speed range. Nonideal effects like saturation and harmonics are considered which improves the estimation results significantly. At standstill and low speed a carrier signal based method is applied which uses the rotor winding as the receiver. At higher speed a new fundamental wave based approach is used which is embedded in the feed forward controller. The excellent performance of the suggested control scheme is verified by experimental results with a traction motor.
