Abstract:
Interference management in heterogeneous networks is an important issue that needs to be tackled in order to achieve the performance gains that these networks promise. In this paper, we consider a Poisson field of MIMO femtocell network with one single macrocell base station (MBS) and multiple femtocell access points (FAPs) which are randomly distributed according to a Poisson Point Process. Considering advanced MIMO techniques, we propose an opportunistic interference alignment (OIA) scheme in order to reduce intra and inter tier interference. Furthermore, we employ a random spectrum allocation above the OIA to “thin” the number of collision within the same spectrum. By applying stochastic geometry, we show the improvement on the performance of the network in terms of success probability, network throughput, and energy efficiency.
