Abstract:
Implementation of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar in software-defined radio hardware, such as Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) device, could leads into a low cost, low power and reconfigurable radar. On the other hand, this kind of device introduces additional delay which disturbs the delay caused by object. Therefore, this problem leads into significant error in range determination. In this paper, a simple system is proposed to solve this problem, which employs constant signal transmitted before the FMCW signal. This system works successfully solving the additional delay problem. Index Terms — Delay compensation, Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave, Software-defined radar, Universal Software Radio Peripheral
