Abstract:
Peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction in a distributed amplify-and-forward (AF) type cooperative system using a virtual multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (VMIMO-OFDM) system with an extended orthogonal space frequency block coding (EO-SFBC) transmission scheme is addressed. Oversampling, amplitude clipping and filtering at the source and/or relays is studied. The iterative amplitude reconstruction (IAR) decoding technique is used to overcome the harmful effects introduced by the clipping operation within the system. The end-to-end bit error rate (BER) simulations of the proposed system verify that clipping only at the source has the best performance compared with clipping at the relay nodes or clipping in both the source and relays. In addition, the system achieves full spatial diversity with only a small number of feedback bits by exploiting quantized one-bit group feedback, whilst limiting the source PAPR.
