Abstract:
We propose and demonstrate the transmission of 122-Mb/s upstream data and broadcast signals over a single wavelength using mutually injection-locked FabryPerot laser diodes (MIL-FPLDs) and a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA). To avoid the detrimental effect of periodic noise peaks of MIL-FPLD, we set the bit-rate of upstream data to the noise peak frequency and operate the RSOA in the gain-saturation region.
