Abstract:
In this paper, the recent advances in polarization orientation angle estimation and its applications are reviewed. Difficulties are frequently encountered in the estimation of orientation angles from POLSAR images. These difficulties will be discussed and the effect of radar wavelength and calibration on the estimation will be investigated. Applications to geophysical parameter estimation, ocean surface feature sensing, building detection and estimation of Faraday rotation angle for spaceborne POLSAR calibration, will be discussed.
