Abstract:
The ability to predict the future communication capability between two or more autonomous wireless nodes is greatly beneficial to wireless ad hoc networks. Future network topology predictions can be used to increase the robustness of routing protocols and efficiency of power-saving algorithms. While many wireless ad hoc routing protocols focus only on known information, emerging protocols are utilizing predicted information of the future network topology as a means of improving their efficiency. This paper proposes a novel approach for the calculation and prediction of future network topologies, and provides simulations to validate the concept.
