Design Automation for Power Electronics: a path towards realization

Abstract:
The demand for power electronic solutions is growing rapidly. The number of skilled workers available in the labour market cannot grow at the same rate. In addition, new promising technologies are available that immensely expand the possibilities of a system design. In order to keep pace with these market developments, new design methods are needed. Design automation is the key to overcoming the challenges. In the following, we will first describe the challenges that still prevent design automation in power electronics today. Subsequently, solutions will be discussed and examples of implementation will be described. This work concludes with an outlook on the following steps.
