Abstract:
For the detection of volatile organic compounds, we developed a MEMS FAIMS-chip. For the evaluation and characterization of the FAIMS-chip, measurements with a selection of different ketones are performed. These measurements show significant differences of certain peak properties, i.e. peak shift, peak height and peak width, in dependence of the dispersion voltageand are in agreement with the theoretical considerations. Whereas the peak shift and the peak height couldn’t distinguish 2-pentanone and 2-hexanone, the peak width was sufficient to distinguish all measured ketones from each other.
