Abstract:
Lab-on-chip (LOC) systems integrate various laboratory diagnostic procedures for sample preparation and analysis on one chip and can process and evaluate patient samples automatically. The small disposable cartridges allow instrument platforms with a small size and are thus optimally suited for diagnosis or initial care in medical practices or in the patient's home environment. Performing miniaturized laboratory diagnostics on a LOC requires special fluidic, electrical, and optical components that are not available with the necessary specifications to expand the range of applications for LOC diagnostics. The KODIAK project aimed to overcome those limitations.
